Cherry Almond Amish Sugar Cookies

These nostalgic Amish sugar cookies are elevated with dried cherries and toasted almonds for a delightful twist on the classic. Soft, chewy, and perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 cup toasted almonds, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in dried cherries and almonds.
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on wire rack.

Notes

For extra almond flavor, use almond extract instead of vanilla. Store in airtight container.
