For the Crust:

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Pour crushed pineapple (with juice) over the cherry pie filling and spread evenly.
  4. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the fruit layer. Do not stir.
  5. Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix, covering as much as possible.
  6. If using pecans, sprinkle them evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
