For the Crust:
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat white sugar and butter until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Combine flour and baking powder in another bowl, then stir into the butter mixture alternately with milk.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer with half the apples and half the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Repeat layers once more.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over the cooled bread before serving.
