For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  3. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Fold in blueberries and spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the batter. Pour boiling water over the top without stirring.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and the cake is set. Let cool slightly before serving.
