Homemade Tennessee Onions

A delicious Southern-style dish featuring sweet onions baked in a creamy, cheesy sauce.

For the Crust:

  • 4 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup crushed Ritz crackers

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the sliced onions evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the onions.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the top, then sprinkle with crushed Ritz crackers.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
