For the Crust:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup water, warmed
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, water, melted butter, egg, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, then place in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the dough.
  5. Roll dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 slices. Place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice for glaze, then drizzle over warm rolls.
