Luxurious Caramel Chocolate Cupcakes

Decadent chocolate cupcakes filled with gooey caramel and topped with rich chocolate frosting.

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add water, vegetable oil, vinegar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  5. Using a small spoon, scoop out a small portion from the center of each cupcake. Fill with caramel sauce.
  6. For the frosting, heat heavy cream until steaming. Pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Let cool slightly before frosting cupcakes.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
