Mozzarella Stuffed Soft Pretzels

Soft, chewy pretzels stuffed with gooey mozzarella cheese, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and place a mozzarella stick in the center. Seal tightly.
  4. Bring a large pot of water to boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon.
  5. Place pretzels on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
