Air Fryer Cottage Cheese Cheese Sticks – Crispy, Gooey & Protein-Packed

These air fryer cheese sticks are made with cottage cheese for a protein-packed twist, resulting in a crispy exterior and gooey interior.

  • 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil spray for coating

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, shredded mozzarella, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into stick shapes, about 3 inches long and 1 inch thick, and place them on a plate. Freeze for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
  3. In a shallow bowl, beat the egg. In another bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dip each cheese stick into the beaten egg, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket with olive oil spray.
  6. Place the coated cheese sticks in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching. Spray the tops lightly with olive oil spray.
  7. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispiness, double coat the sticks with egg and breadcrumbs. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
