Amarula Koeksister Mousse Cups

Indulge in these decadent mousse cups inspired by South African koeksisters, infused with the creamy, nutty flavors of Amarula liqueur for a boozy twist on a classic dessert.

  • 1 cup Amarula Cream Liqueur
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon gelatin powder (dissolved in 2 tablespoons hot water)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 8 prepared koeksisters (or cinnamon sugar doughnuts), chopped into small pieces
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the gelatin: dissolve the gelatin powder in 2 tablespoons of hot water and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Whip the heavy cream: in a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  3. Mix the mousse: gently fold in the Amarula Cream Liqueur, powdered sugar, and cooled gelatin mixture into the whipped cream until well combined.
  4. Assemble the cups: layer the chopped koeksisters at the bottom of each serving cup, then spoon the Amarula mousse on top.
  5. Chill and garnish: refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set, then garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Amarula with a cream liqueur alternative. Serve chilled and enjoy responsibly.
