Christmas Hot Chocolate With Gingerbread Spice

A warm and spiced hot chocolate perfect for the holidays, ideal for serving in aesthetic mugs.

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Crushed gingerbread cookies for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to steam, but do not boil.
  2. Add the dark chocolate chips, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and brown sugar to the saucepan.
  3. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and heated through, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and crushed gingerbread cookies if desired.
  6. Serve immediately for a cozy winter treat.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond milk. Adjust spices to taste for preferred spiciness.
