Ingredients

Scale
  • 1package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  • 8 ozcream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cupgranulated sugar
  • 1 tspvanilla extract
  • 1/2 tspground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cupunsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cupgranulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbspground cinnamon (for coating)
  • 2 1/4 tspactive dry yeast (1packet)
  • 1/2 cupwarm milk (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 tbspgranulated sugar (for dough)
  • 2 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1large egg
  • 3 tbspunsalted butter, softened (for dough)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth. Set aside.
  2. If using shortcut dough, roll out crescent dough and pinch seams to form rectangles. Cut into squares. If using homemade dough, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy. Add flour, salt, egg, and butter, knead for 5–7 minutes, let rise for 1 hour, roll into rectangle, and cut into squares.
  3. Spoon 1–2 teaspoons of cream cheese filling into the center of each square. Fold over and pinch edges tightly to seal.
  4. Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C), bake rolls for 12–15 minutes until golden. Air Fryer: Preheat to 350°F (175°C), cook for 6–8 minutes in a single layer.
  5. Brush warm rolls with melted butter and toss in cinnamon sugar coating.

Notes

Seal the dough tightly to prevent cream cheese from leaking during baking.
Use cold dough for easier shaping and sealing.
Do not overfill; 1–2 teaspoons of filling is ideal.
Reheat leftovers in air fryer or oven for best texture.
Serve warm for maximum creaminess and flavor.
