Easy Crispy Salted Codfish Cakes You’ll Love

Delicious and crispy salted codfish cakes that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 lb salted codfish, soaked and drained
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak the salted codfish in cold water for at least 24 hours, changing the water every few hours. Drain and flake the fish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flaked codfish, mashed potatoes, onion, garlic, parsley, eggs, and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix well until everything is incorporated. If the mixture is too wet, add more breadcrumbs.
  4. Form the mixture into patties.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Fry the patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with tartar sauce or a fresh salad. Make sure to thoroughly soak the codfish to remove excess salt.
