  • For the Crust:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. For the Crust: In a bowl, mix flour, softened butter, and sugar until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  3. For the Filling: Sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips evenly over the baked crust.
  4. In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and cream. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour hot caramel mixture over the pecans and chocolate in the pan.
  6. Bake for another 15-20 minutes or until bubbles begin to subside.
  7. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For a nut-free version, omit pecans.
