Gingerbread Latte With Homemade Syrup

A cozy holiday drink featuring homemade gingerbread syrup, perfect for Christmas brunch.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  • 1/2 cup homemade gingerbread syrup (made with 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons molasses, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves)
  • Whipped cream for topping
  • Ground cinnamon for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming, but not boiling.
  2. Stir in the homemade gingerbread syrup until well combined.
  3. Brew the coffee or espresso and pour it into a mug.
  4. Add the heated milk mixture to the mug and stir gently.
  5. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

Notes

For the best flavor, make the syrup ahead and let it cool; adjust spices to taste.
