Golden Baked Brie with Caramelized Apples and Thyme

This golden baked brie topped with caramelized apples and fresh thyme is the perfect appetizer for holiday gatherings or a cozy night in. The combination of creamy brie, sweet caramelized apples, and aromatic thyme creates a flavor explosion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Caramelized Apples:
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • For the Baked Brie:
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel of brie cheese, rind intact
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • Crackers or baguette slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 8-10 minutes until apples are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon fresh thyme.
  3. Place the brie wheel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in a small baking dish.
  4. Spoon the caramelized apples over the brie, sprinkle with remaining thyme and chopped walnuts if using.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until brie is softened and golden on top.
  6. Serve warm with crackers or baguette slices.

Notes

For best results, use a ripe brie that gives slightly when pressed. If the brie leaks too much, you can wrap the bottom in foil to catch drips. Leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven.
