For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup strong black coffee, cooled
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips, melted
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, coffee, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
- Fold in the melted dark chocolate chips until fully incorporated.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
