Savory Quick One Pan Orzo Dinner Recipe

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in orzo pasta and cook for 1 minute to lightly toast.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  6. Add cherry tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  7. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender and broth is absorbed.
  8. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese, and garnish with fresh basil.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use gluten-free orzo if needed. Adjust seasoning to taste. Leftover orzo can be refrigerated and reheated.
