For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, mix milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a dough. Knead lightly until smooth.
- Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
- Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over campfire until hot (about 350°F).
- Fry donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Coat warm donuts in the mixture.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
