For the Crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a dough. Knead lightly until smooth.
  4. Roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into donut shapes using a donut cutter or two round cutters.
  5. Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet over campfire until hot (about 350°F).
  6. Fry donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  7. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Coat warm donuts in the mixture.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
