  • 1/4 cupgranulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoonfreshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 7-Up or Sprite for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon: Place the watermelon cubes in a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Strain the Juice: Strain the blended watermelon through a strainer over a large bowl or a 9×13-inch glass baking dish, removing the pulp to reserve the juice.
  3. Dissolve the Sugar and Lemon Juice: Dissolve the granulated sugar and freshly squeezed lemon juice in the watermelon juice.
  4. Freeze the Mixture: Freeze the mixture in the bowl or baking dish for 2 to 3 hours, stirring every 45 minutes to break up the ice crystals.
  5. Serve: When ready to serve, scrape the slush to create shavings, fill glasses about 3/4 full, and top with a splash of 7-Up or Sprite.
