Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken

  • Author: Chef Sally

Description

Juicy chicken breasts smothered in a rich mushroom gravy, inspired by Texas Roadhouse.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add butter and melt. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to make a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer until gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Return chicken to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat through.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
