For the Crust:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add butter and melt. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream. Simmer until gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to heat through.
